Guidelines for Editors
The DJPS editors have ultimate responsibility for deciding whether a manuscript submitted to the journal should be published, guided by the journal's policies as determined by its editorial board, and constrained by applicable legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. An editor may consult with the Associate Editor and other members of the editorial team, as well as with reviewers, in making publication decisions.
Editors evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to the race, colour, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship or political philosophy of the author(s). They will not disclose information about a manuscript under consideration to anyone other than the author(s), reviewers and potential reviewers, and in some instances the journal's editorial board members, as appropriate. Editors also make every effort to preserve the integrity of the double-blind review process by not revealing the identity of a manuscript's author(s) to its reviewers, and vice versa.
When evaluating a manuscript for publication, in addition to standard criteria — the rigour of the manuscript, the quality of its presentation, and its contribution to the field — editors will also seek evidence that ethical harms have been minimised in the conduct of the reported research, weighing whether the benefits outweigh the harms in that study's case. Since DJPS welcomes submissions from any country, editors recognise that laws and regulations on research ethics and ethical approval vary worldwide, and may seek clarification from the author(s), including a letter from the relevant institutional ethics committee or board that approved the research.
Editors are guided by COPE's Guidelines for Retracting Articles when considering a retraction, an expression of concern, or a correction to an article published in DJPS, and are committed to working closely with research organisations and institutions in line with COPE's guidance on cooperation between research institutions and journals on research integrity cases.
Copyright, Plagiarism, Corrections & Withdrawal
These policies are covered in full, along with peer review, conflict of interest, APC waivers and digital archiving, on the Journal Policies page. In short:
- Authors retain copyright; articles are published under a CC BY 4.0 licence — see Copyright & Licensing.
- All submissions are screened for plagiarism using CrossCheck by iThenticate — see the Plagiarism Policy on the Journal Policies page.
- To withdraw a manuscript, the corresponding author must submit our Article Withdrawal form. Withdrawal is free within 10 days of submission; a fee applies after review/acceptance (Rs. 1,000 India / $50 other countries), and any APC already paid is non-refundable.
- All authors must disclose any conflict of interest — honoraria, grants, membership, employment, stock ownership, or any other financial or personal/professional interest connected to the research topic.
